'Better Call Saul' AMC Release Date 2015, New Music Video Promo Footage Released for 'Breaking Bad' Spinoff, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The "Breaking Bad" spinoff titled "Better Call Saul" is premiering on AMC in February 2015. While fans got their first look at the new series earlier this Summer, there has been a music video released as a form of promo for the new series.
The song, appropriately titled "Better Call Saul" is performed by Junior Brown, with the lyrics written by show creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. You can check out the promo video above. What do you think of the song?
Creators Vince Gilligan (who worked on the "Breaking Bad" showrunner) and Peter Gould answered questions about the new series at the Television Critics Association's press tour.
Here is what we learned about the show, Entertainment Weekly goes into greater detail:
No official release date has been set for the the premiere but the show will take place in Albuquerque just like "Breaking Bad".
On Walter White (Bryan Cranston) making an appearance, Gilligan explained, "If it makes sense we'll do it, if it doesn't make sense we won't."
"Better Call Saul" will take place in 2002 (Gilligan: "I hesitate to say it, but it is indeed a period piece"), approximately six years prior to the beginning of Breaking Bad. They share that the show will have a non-linear timeline and flash both forward and back.
Bob Odenkirk will reprise his role as shady attorney Saul Goodman, though when we first meet him, he'll be known as Jimmy McGill (Better Call Jimmy doesn't rhyme though). Jonathan Banks will also return as "fixer" Mike Erhmantraut. New cast members will include Michael McKean as Saul's brother, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando and Rhea Seehorn.
Gould shared this about the possibility of Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) appearing on the show, "These are all characters we love and with Gus there is so much more to say about that character, and we certainly love Giancarlo... Although in the series it always seemed to me that Saul didn't know Gus directly. He knew a guy who knew a guy."
