ABC'S 'Castle' Recap: 'Driven', Questions left Unanswered
'Castle' is an American crime procedural drama television series, which follows the lives of Richard Castle, a best-selling mystery novelist and Kate Beckett, an NYPD homicide detective. The two work hand in hand as they solve different uncommon crimes in New York City.
The cast of the series include Nathan Fillon as Richard Edgar Castle/Richard Alexander Rogers, Stana Katic as Detective Katherine Houghton "Kate" Beckett, Jon Huertas as Detective Javier "Javi/Espo" Esposito, Seamus Dever as Detective Kevin Ryan, Tamala Jones as Dr. Lanie Parish, Ruben Santiago-Hudson as Captain Roy Montgomery, Molly Quinn as Alexis Castle, Susan Sullivan as Martha Rogers, and Penny Johnson Jerald as Captain Victoria Gates. Guest star Matt Letscher appeared in the episode playing the character of Henry Jenkins.
Initially Premiered on ABC on March 9, 2009, the series returned last September 30, 2014 with premiere title, Driven.
In the last season, fans were curious as to what happened to Richard Castle. The season premiere of season 7, quite gave some thoughts to that.
Season 6 concluded with Rich Castle and Kate Becket on the threshold of becoming married in the Hamptons. Then, Castle's car was run off the road by an SUV. Beckett was waiting for her groom when she received a phone call, learning that Castle's car is on fire in a ditch.
Season 7 pushes through as last season's continuation. Castle was not in the car. He was nowhere to be found, not in the car, in the ditch, nor the Hamptons.
Succeeding events reveal that Castle is actually found unconscious by the U.S. Coast Guardian a vessel near the coast. That was nearly two months after his disappearance.
Along with the FBI, Beckett and Detective Ryan and Esposito continue the investigation regarding what happened to Castle.
Going back to Castle, it was revealed that he has a gunshot wound that healed few weeks ago. It also appears that he has lost part of his memory. The last thing he recalls is the car crash.
Something odd is this. Beckett and the detective duo possess security camera footage of Castle in an alley dropping of a bag full of money while he was supposed to be missing. What does this mean now?
The real answer to the question 'What happened to Castle?' is still left unresolved.
Foe Henry Jenkins could be the main reason of Castle's desertion. As the episode come into its end, it appears that Jenkins planned well to set-up and make Castle appear that he staged his disappearance and he left Beckett.
Castle said, "Whoever they are, they have unlimited resources, maybe the kind of resources that would allow them to alter someone's memory."
Does this mean a medication changed Castle's memory? Is Castle a pretender? Or is it all Jenkins' fault?
A number of open questions are left unanswered in the season premiere.
Created and executive produced by Andrew Marlowe, the series was produced in fusion by Beacon Pictures and ABC Studios.
To watch the succeeding episodes, Castle Season 7 airs every Monday 10|9c on ABC Network.
