Focus Movie Release Date, Reveals, Rumors, Reviews and Updates: Will Smith and Margot Robbie to Star in Upcoming Romantic Comedy
It has been a long time since we saw Will Smith in a movie that we actually liked and enjoyed; when I say this I am assuming we all thought After Earth was a horrible movie. Anyway Mr. Smith is coming back to our screens in the movie Focus set to be released on February 27th 2015. The flick which is produced by Zaftig Pictures and costs just 100 million dollars is directed by Glen Ficarra and John Requa. Mr. Ficarra is one of the founders of Zaftig films so he really has a lot of eggs in this basket. The movie does not have a whole lot of names attached to it and as at now we do not know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Mr. Smith I actually the only person of note on the project and if it weren't for Warner Brothers it would almost qualify as an indie film.
The movie is set to be a romantic comedy drama about a seasoned con man that gets himself romantically involved with a woman whom he introduces to his illustrious trade. The two find themselves falling in love and our protagonist feeling that this may be a liability cuts all ties with this woman, he just walks away. Fast forward to three years later and she shows up again with a child. She is trying to run a con on our protagonist's mark which catches him unawares and throws him off his game.
Filming for the movie wrapped in December of 2013 and considering the release date we wonder how much post production work is really needed, we would expect a mid to late 2014 release date. Will Smith was not the first option for this movie, the role was offered to Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck all of whom turned it down for various reasons. The role for the female role was also first offered to Emma Stone and Kristen Stewart who also both declined for some reason or other before it was offered to Margot Robbie.
