'Selfie Season 1' This Going To Be "Viral" from Our Social Media Phenomenon Now on TV Screens know its Premiere and Other News
Selfie is a new and upcoming American Sitcom Television series created and produced by Emily Kapnek based on the 1956 Broadway musical called My Fair Lady which was in turn based on the play called Pygmalion authored by George Bernard Shaw.
Pygmalion is named after a legendary Greek Mythological figure, also by the same name, who was said to have fallen in love with one of his sculptures which then later came to life. The play authored by George Bernard Shaw was first staged for audiences in 1912.
Production companies working on the upcoming series are Piece of Pie Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television.
Warner Bros. Television Distribution is said to be the distributor.
The story of the sitcom, being a bit similar to the previous original works, is about a woman named Eliza Dooley portrayed by the actress Karen Gillan, who is a modern version of the character Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady.
She is said to be obsessed and constantly preoccupied with the use of social media networking such as Instagram, in order to get famous, by taking selfies of herself and posting them online. Hence the title of the series called "Selfie".
Selfie, being a modern day phenomenon since the rise and popularity of social networking services and smartphone devices all connected to the internet, have become almost part of people's daily lives. It simply means a self-portrait photo of one's self taken by one's self through a digital camera or smartphone, and later uploading it to social media sites
Other characters in the new series will star John Cho as Henry Higenbottam, who is said to be a marketing guru who was hired by Eliza to help rebrand her self-image, after she comes to realize the differences between friending people online and meeting them physically.
It is a must see series, I would say, that may teach us something about ourselves!
The series is expected to premiere on September 30, 2014, airing on Tuesday Nights!
