Dwayne ‘The Rock' Johnson: Confirmed to Portray DC Comics Anti-Hero Black Adam
"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot. My honor to become #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics." The tweet is accompanied by a photo showing Shazam and Black Adam in an intense fight, as the superhero struggles to get out of Black Adam's headlock.
It's official everyone, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson confirms that he's in to portray the role of DC Comics villain Black Adam for an unconfirmed movie to be based on Shazam DC Comics through an announcement via his official Twitter, Wednesday. After some speculations that he's in the running to portray the DC superhero Shazam, turns out he will be playing his arch nemesis.
It is not confirmed though if The Rock will be starring in a Shazam movie, as there is no further statement from Warner Bros yet. On the other hand, Warner Bros registered four superhero movie domain names including, AquamanMovie.com, JusticeLeagueFilm.com, WonderWomanTheMovie.com, and ShazamMovie.com; according to an initial report from TechTimes.
This seems like a good sign that audiences might get to see a Shazam movie soon, but there is also the possibility that Black Adam could appear in other DC movies planned by Warner Bros. A Variety report meanwhile says that Darren Lemke is signed to pen the script and Hiram Garcia to produce with New Line Cinema, along with a statement from Toby Emmerich (President and COO/ New Line) saying that they've had nothing but success with him.
According to DC Wikia, originally, Black Adam is a supervillain/anti-hero, the evil counterpart of Captain Marvel/Shazam - an ancient Egyptian prince with special powers given to him by the the wizard Shazam.
In the meantime, let's wait for Warner Bros.' official statement. And just who could be portraying Shazam?
