66th Primetime Emmy Awards: Winners, Surprises and Biggest Snubs
66th Primetime Emmy Awards: Winners, Surprises and Biggest Snubs
The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards finally unveiled the new set of winners this year. Were predictions and speculations true? Did your best bet win that most coveted award? Did Breaking Bad or Modern Family made a sweep at the awards again? Check out if they did from the winners list, aired Sunday night on NBC.
The best drama series went to "Breaking Bad" again, which also won the previous year. Despite the tough competition with "Downton Abbey," "Game of Thrones," "House of Cards," "Mad Men," and "True Detective;" "Breaking Bad" still proved to be the strongest. Despite having aired its final episode last September, it still went on to take home one of the most coveted awards at the Emmys. Do you think "Breaking Bad" was still deserving of the award or that it should have been given to someone else? And of course, Bryan Cranston also took home the lead actor in a drama series just like the previous year. Do you think it should have been Matthew McConaughey instead?
"Modern Family" on the other hand is another repeat winner, again claiming the best comedy series against "The Big Bang Theory," "Louie," "Orange is the New Black," "Silicon Valley," and "Veep."
Julianna Margulies for "The Good Wife" was a surprise winner for lead actress for most, as pundits say that Robin Wright was the favorite after her Golden Globe win for "House of Cards." This could mean that even if your drama was snubbed for best drama, you still have the shots for the leading actress award.
The rest of the winners include, Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Julia Louis Dreyfus (Veep) for lead actor and actress in comedy, Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock: His Last Vow) and Jessica Lange (American Horror Story: Coven) for lead actor and actress in a miniseries, Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn (both from Breaking Bad) for supporting actor and actress in drama, Ty Burrell (Modern Family) and Allison Janney (Mom) for supporting actor and actress in comedy, Martin Freeman (Sherlock: His Last Vow) and Kathy Bates (American Horror Story: Coven) for supporting actor and actress in a miniseries/movie, "The Amazing Race" for reality-competition series, "The Colbert Report" for variety series, "Fargo" for miniseries, and "The Normal Heart" for television movie.
