"Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 on ABC is just around the corner and fans are hungry to any news about the upcoming season. It was revealed that Geena Davis ("Commander in Chief") was joining the cast and The Hollywood Reporter has shown first pictures from her on set (see above).
Davis will be in the Season 11 premiere episode titled "I Must Have Lost It on the Wind". Another new regular joining the show is Caterina Scorsone and Kate Burton is returning as guest star Ellis Grey.
Showrunner Shonda Rhimes opened up to THR about Ellen Pompeo's character Meredith for the upcoming Season 11.
"It's really a Meredith-centric season. There's a lot of growth. She's lost her person. Her sister has showed up. Her husband is chafing to go someplace else. She's got all these things going on. Maybe that's the theme, maybe it's independence. But for me right now, it feels like it's Meredith. I'm feeling her more acutely because she's lost her person," shared Rhimes.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 will be adding actress Caterina Scorsone full time as Amelia Shepherd to the cast. She made appearances last season as Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) sister, but has decided to make Seattle her home calling off her engagement with her fiancé in Los-Angeles. Maggie Pierce will also be joining the team of doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as Meredith's sister and Ellis' daughter.
Wetpaint rumors that some "bad news" will hit the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in the first few episodes of Season 11. This could be in the form of a "massive catastrophe", "departure of a dearly beloved cast member" or "Major marital strife between Meredith and Derek" are options that they speculate. However, there is no confirmation on show's storyline. The above mentioned scenarios should be treated as mere speculations by Wetpaint.
"Grey's Anatomy" became one of the most popular shows on television when it aired in 2005 after a few down years recently the show ranked No. 15 in the 2013-2014 season and also re-entered the top five shows in the 18-49 viewer demographic durings it's tenth season.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 is set to premiere on Thursday night, September 25th at 8/7c on ABC.
