'Boardwalk Empire' Season 5 Release Date Notice: Premiere On September 7, Final Season To End With 8 Episodes 

"Boardwalk Empire" is a series based on 1920s-era drama. HBO recently announced the Boardwalk Empire season 5 release date as September 7 at 9 pm on HBO. The season would be a final and will end forever with the eighth episode. The 4th season succeeded in getting huge viewership and accolades from fans and critics.

HBO and series creator Terrence Winter, however, doesn't seem to be much interested in continuing the series after the season 5. They announced the conclusion of the drama at the TCA panel in the beginning of the year. In an event, Michael Lombardo, president of programming at HBO expressed "It has been an incredible honor to bring this powerful and groundbreaking series to our subscribers. Terry Winter has created one for the ages". 

The series creators and HBO has not revealed any reasons for bringing this series to an end, but critics report that it may be due to poor ratings and less viewership when compared to the success of "Game of Thrones" and "True Blood". The series has not really been able to grab many awards except the one to Bobby Cannavale for the Best Supporting Actor Emmy award.

Winter reported that the new season 5 of Boardwalk Empire will feature 8 episodes concluding with an "unforgiving" end. We wonder what the term unforgiving mean and to whom it refers to. The news are that Winter will be working on another project in collaboration with Martin Scorsese for a show that would be produced by Mick Jagger. Cannavale, on the other hand, is too working on another project playing as a lead role.
