The Inspirations Offer an Exclusive Interview About their New Album "A Pioneer's Legacy"
The Inspirations will be releasing their new album A Pioneer Legacy on April 22 release. The project's title embodies this new step to perfection, serving both as a reminder of the storied quartet's origins - their very first album, released in 1966, was titled Our Pioneer Heritage - and as an acknowledgement that the group's history and deep catalog constitute a rich legacy to be carried on by a new generation.
We are honored to be able to catch up with the Inspirations --- which includes Roland Kesterson, Isaac Moore, Wyatt Austin and Luke Vaught --- for this exclusive interview.
Q: With a new generation stepping forward, how does it feel to part of the Inspirations now?
Luke Vaught: To be honest the mission of the group has not changed at all. It is our ambition to embody the same principles and standards this legendary group has maintained for the last 58 years. The only thing that has changed is our drive to stay the same in a changing world is now greater then it has ever been.
Q: How will you guys continue to preserve and cherish the legacy of the band?
Luke Vaught and Isaac Moore: To be honest the mission of the group has not changed at all. It is our ambition to embody the same principles and standards this legendary group has maintained for the last 58 years. The only thing that has changed is our drive to stay the same in a changing world is now greater then it has ever been.
Q: Do you have a vision for the band in terms of its goals for the years ahead?
Isaac Moore: I feel as though we are exactly where the Lord wants us to be, and my vision of the future is simply for us to grow closer to God, closer to each other, and to show our fans that The Inspirations will be preserved to the fullest extent each and every time we sing.
Q: Talk to us about your new "A Pioneer's Legacy"? How is this new album link to the Inspirations' first album "Our Pioneer Heritage"?
Roland Kesterson: Well as it is with any group the first studio album is always exciting. It's fresh and new and you truly never know what to expect. But that first album Our Pioneer Heritage gave listeners their first taste of The Inspirations' Smokey Mountain Gospel sound and the world fell in love with it. We pray that this album will link the same old sound with a new generation and have the same effect. Pure mountain harmonies with the anointing of God on it. Which brings us to the title of the album. A Pioneer Legacy. It was their heritage that has become our legacy that we are very proud of and honored to carry on.
Q: Why are you excited about this new album?
Roland Kesterson: Several reasons. One because it's the very first studio album that features the new lineup. Two because we feel like this album will reach a host of people. Three because we are certain that it will be a historical album for this group. It's always exciting when a group releases a new album. But this one carries a lot of weight, and we are excited to see how our fans embrace and accept it. So far the support has been phenomenal.
Q: When you were picking songs for this new record, what type of songs were you looking for?
Roland Kesterson: As always we prayerfully choose songs to record just like we were taught. But on this album also we wanted to record songs that we felt like our fans would like to hear. Songs that embrace the legacy of this group. All across the country people have fallen back in love with this classic sound and we wanted to give the people what they wanted to hear as well as include some new songs so that folks could be reassured that this classic sound will never go away. The songs have to bless us first before we will consider recording them and each song on this album touched every one of us in a special way. It's often been said. You can't sing it if you don't live it. And the songs on this album come straight from our hearts.
Q: Will you guys be on the road promoting this album this year? If so, where can our readers go to catch you guys live?
Roland Kesterson: We maintain a full schedule from January to December each year. Our dates are always listed in the back of Singing News magazine as well as on our web page theinspirationsquartet.com. Also folks can follow us on Facebook at The Inspirations. Our dates are posted weekly there. We would love to see everyone at a concert, so if we are in your area please come out and join us at our events and as always come praying that God will use us to uplift his name and that we will be a blessing to all that hear us. A special thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all who love and support The Inspirations!!!
