Fans Feel Equipped to Fight Addictions Thanks to Zach Williams' "The Struggle"
GRAMMY® winner (Best Contemporary Christian Album, Chain Breaker, 2018), four-time GRAMMY nominee, and multi-GMA Dove Awards winner, Zach Williams continues to impact Christian radio with one of his most intimate song to date. The folkish new ballad "The Struggle" centers around the narratives of an alcoholic and a drug addict and how they found hope through the word of God.
"I can't walk this road alone, and I can't do this on my own..." Williams says is the message of his new song. "These words have been my prayer many times. Thankful that the Lord always hears us when we cry out to Him."
Fans agree that the song is powerful. In fact, a few of them have already been helped by Williams' new song. One fan writes, "Such a powerful and heartfelt song. I struggled with addiction and was homeless for over 10 years. But by Gods endless mercy and grace I have over 8 years clean and now he's using me to help those who are still struggling and stuck in its grips."
Another testifies, "This song reminds me of my journey. I've been clean from Alcohol an other addictions a couple of months now an have been giving God the holy spirit the undivided attention that is needed. I now hear him clearly an im never turning back. I started going back to church an I started a 12 step program an I started eating better an going to the gym consistently. I'm never turning back an if I can do it you can do it too ! I love you all my brothers n sisters ! Just for today I will not pick up. God is here an will forever will be."
"This Song Literally Touched Me," yet another listener confesses. "Because I Am Struggling Within Myself and Fighting Addiction, A Reason Why I Clicked On This Song, Im In Tears. Oh God You Are Love Life And , I Love You God.. Thank You For This Wonderful Song Zack."
He woke up this morning
To an angel in his bed
There was a devil in the bottle
He was holding in his hand
With his head still full of whiskey
And his eyes now full of tears
He dusted off a Bible
That he hadn't read in years
And he said I am tired I am torn
And I can't take it anymore
You see this bottle it's been my only friend
But hear I am
My heart to You I give
Father, can You take away these tears?
She struggles with addiction
She struggles to fit in
She takes too much medication to cover up her tears
One pill to make her happy
Too many make her sad
Then she notices a Bible in a hotel by her bed
She says I am weary I am worn
And I can't take it anymore
You see this bottle it's been my only friend
But hear I am
My heart to You I give
Father, can You wash away these sins
Then the sun came out
And the skies turned blue
And the pain they knew was gone
And as the old life died
A new life it was born
Oh was a life they never knew
Until they followed You
