"Glee" Star Cory Monteith's Mother Ann McGregor Gives First Interview Since Her Son's Tragic Death One Year Ago, Watch Here (Video)
Cory Monteith's mother Ann McGregor is sharing publicly for the first time since her son's death just over a year ago. She spoke to "GMA" and opens about about the pain that is still very real but slowly making progress. You can watch her full interview above.
"The loss is horrendous ... until three days ago I couldn't look at a picture of Cory," Ann, 63, said. "So there's been progress."
She shared that she does stay in touch with Lea Michele through text and email. "She's hurting too ... you see the sadness," Ann said. "I know her pain."
"[When] Cory was 15, he did a code blue," Ann said explaining his first overdose, "and I think that was the turning point. He had a lot of emotional things he was trying to figure out - lot of it was he really wanted a relationship with his father. I think when a child gets invalidated they keep reaching even harder. They want to find out why."
Cory had shared with his mother that he was getting ready to sign a lease in Vancouver before he died and he may have been thinking about leaving Hollywood. "I think he was easing himself out of it." It is so sad that he never got that opportunity.
The "Glee" died last July at just 31-years-old from a drug overdose. He was found in his hotel room in Canada. His girlfriend and co-star Lea Michele has been very open about her struggles with his death and wrote several songs about his life, their relationship and how she is dealing with life without him on her debut solo album.
