Kanye West Is Planning to Go Virtual for Sunday Service on Easter
Kanye. West and his Sunday Service choir will be teaming up with VOUS Church lead pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. to record a very special Easter worship service. Wilkerson was the officiator of the rapper's marriage to Kim Kardashian in 2014.
On Sunday (April 12), the Miami-based church will broadcast "exclusive pre-recorded content with Kanye West and and the Sunday Service Choir" on its website and social media channels, according to an announcement on vouschurch.com.
West and his choir were originally supposed to join Joel Osteen and the Lakewood Church for their online Easter service. TMZ reports that Kanye backed out of the deal due to social distancing issues. West's choir -- which at times has more than 100 members -- were planning to wear masks and maintain appropriate social distancing positions. However, once everything was laid out, Kanye decided it just didn't feel safe enough for everyone involved, and he couldn't carry out his vision, so he decided to pull the plug.
Osteen's Easter special will include appearances by Mariah Carey and Tyler Perry. Carey will be singing her #1 hit "Hero" while Tyler will bring words of encouragements to the online congregation.
