Derrick Starks' New Single "The Sanctified Medley" Hits Top 100
Award winning songwriter, singer, producer and music director Derrick Starks gets "one in for the church folks" with the release of "The Sanctified Medley," the first single from his new Starks Music Group imprint deal with UAMG/Sony/ The Orchard as well as the first single from the highly anticipated Derrick Starks Family and Friends CD recorded live in Detroit.
"Its good for us to be here. I don't take any of this for granted and I want the Lord to know how much I appreciate being a vessel that is used by God to impact lives through music. Music has power. Its nice to have some feel good church throwbacks every now and again. While we are admonished to sing to the Lord a new song, we can never forget the songs that served as the foundation of the church" states Starks.
" I am so grateful to feature some singers that were trailblazers in Gospel music, namely, Rose Marie Rimson Brown who was one of the anchors of the famed Southwest Michigan State Choir under the direction of one of my mentors, the great Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. We also have Bishop Richard Mr. Clean White, who is not only a phenomenal singer but an amazing songwriter having written hit songs for Bishop Paul S. Morton, Karen Clark Sheard, the ONeal Twins (recently featured in the revival of the Say Amen Somebody documentary) and many others, and then there's a hint of quartet genus from Pastor Robert Taylor and my Dad, the late Pastor C J Starks who masterfully applies the original Starks essence on the medley. Its great Gospel music."
"The Sanctified Medley" is gaining traction at radio cracking the top 100 on the BDS chart this week. The song is available on digital outlets and streaming platforms. Derrick Starks continues to celebrate Detroit Gospel Music legacy with the recording of The Whitfield Company in October.
