'Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated' Documentary Coming To YouTube
A few years ago Demi Lovato decided to stop running from herself and instead found the courage to face some of her personal issues head-on. She also dug deep to find the gumption, to be honest with her fans about her real-life issues. The former Disney star has admitted to, in the past, finding herself tangled in both an eating disorder as well as a substance abuse problem. Lovato has spoken openly about these things because she understands that her own experience might somehow help other people who are also embattled. The singer has announced that a personal documentary, Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated will make its debut on YouTube on October 17.
The footage will follow Lovato as she makes her new album, Tell Me You Love Me, and reflects on her career thus far. Although she is comfortable in front of the camera, having a film crew trailing her every move was a bit strange at first.
"It's definitely a challenge because you just want to be completely open and free, and when you have cameras on you, you don't feel like you can do that. But you get used to it. And once you get past that mentality, you forget the cameras are there and you're able to be completely vulnerable. My fans have been on this journey with me since I was eight years old and have shared in some of the most important moments in my life. As I embark on a new journey both personally and professionally, it was important to me to create this documentary with a platform that would allow me to continue to bring my story directly to my fans. " Lovato said in a recent interview.
The documentary looks like it'll be interesting because not only will Lovato discuss her quest for sobriety while working as a judge on The X Factor, but she also promises to finally open up a little bit about her split from longtime love, Wilmer Valderrama.
Lovato had a bit of a bumpy transition from the Disney Channel into adulthood but she seems to be doing great now. She's living proof that you can pull your life together if you really want to and her honesty helps to offset some of the normal smoke and mirrors that artists like to present. Hopefully, Lovato's new documentary will inspire others to get help if they need it.
