Alan Jackson Releases "Precious Memories: Live at the Ryman" August 11
On August 11, Gaither Music will be re-releasing country music icon Alan Jackson's very personal release Precious Memories: Live At the Ryman. Filmed live at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN this unique DVD captures powerful gospel performances and intimate interviews with Alan, his mother and his wife as he reflects on his musical journey.
Plus you can also own the companion 2-CD set which features 28 songs including: "Blessed Assurance," "In The Garden," "The Old Rugged Cross," "How Great Thou Art," "When We All Get to Heaven," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms," "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus," and many more!
However, this set is not entirely a new release. Back in 2006, when Jackson was signed to Arista Nashville records, he released Precious Memories. Precious Memories debuted at #4 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and #1 on the Top Country Albums, becoming his eighth #1 country album. In August 2006, Precious Memories was certified Platinum by the RIAA.
He would even release a "Volume II" in 2013. Shortly after the release of the first album, Jackson recorded a live DVD at the Ryman Auditorium, also entitled Precious Memories, as a tie-in. Of the album, Jackson said, "Denise and I had made a list of 30 to 40 songs to do for that first album. We had so many that we didn't get to, I thought we'd go in and do a few more just the same way - heartfelt and simple."
Jackson has sold over 80 million records worldwide, placing 66 titles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Of the 66 titles, and six featured singles, 38 have reached the top five and 35 have claimed the number one spot. Out of 15 titles to reach the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, nine have been certified multi-platinum. He is the recipient of two Grammy Awards, 16 CMA Awards, 17 ACM Awards and nominee of multiple other awards. He is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
