Story Behind Darlene Zschech's Song "Here I Am Send Me"
Renowned worship leader, author and pastor Darlene Zschech will release her new worship album Here I Am Send Me (Hineni) CD/DVD globally on March 3 from Integrity Music. Recorded live with her team at Hope Unlimited Church on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia, the album is Zschech's first project following a life changing cancer diagnosis in 2014 and features 11 new songs penned by her along with guest writers like Martin Smith, Paul Baloche, Jenn Johnson and Leeland Mooring.
The title cut "Here I Am Send Me," written by Zschech and her producer Andy Mak, is a highlight of the record. "'Here I Am Send Me' was written following the revelation I received from Genesis 22, which is when Abraham responds to God in worship by saying 'Hineni,' meaning, 'here I am Lord, whatever you ask, before you ask, my answer is yes'," says Zschech.
"None of us know how many days we have," continues Zschech. "Whatever days I have-and I'm declaring a ripe old age-I want to live them intentionally. I want to live the love of Christ... Everywhere we go, we take the presence of the Lord, we take His presence and His hope, His extravagant love. It's a journey. I'm not there yet, but that's the journey that I am embracing."
Zschech also mentions how God placed the song first in her heart. "The title track of this project simply came out of a time of worship at my piano, at home on my own, singing my prayers out to the Lord, and then refined with some of my dearest friends. As the days get darker (Isaiah 60), we must realize that the PURPOSE of our lives is to bring the love and abiding presence of our God into every sphere of life.
"The name 'Henini' came as my eldest daughter Amy was in worship at church, and felt this in her spirit... and then showed me. In Genesis 22:1 Abraham says yes as God calls his name. He says in Hebrew "here I am", not as a response to an ask, but as a resounding "yes" before the Lord even asks a thing. So, I encourage you to be brave, sing this song and say in your heart - HERE I AM, SEND ME...
Every knee will bow / Every tongue confess / Every heart will cry out Your Name / You are welcome here welcome / Every life will see the glory of our King / Jesus come and reign in our hearts / You are welcome here welcome
Holy Spirit come / Come in power / My life is Yours / My life is Yours / Holy Spirit come / Start a fire / My life is Yours / My life is Yours
