Lindy Conant Shares Her Heart for Missions & Her #1 Album "Every Nation"
After making a surprising No. 1 debut last week on the Christian Billboard album chart with the release of Every Nation, Lindy Conant & The Circuit Riders is holding towards the top of the album chart this week at No. 2, while jumping three spots to No. 6 on Billboard's independent album chart. Lindy Conant & The Circuit Riders was also featured on Billboard.com last week, touting the success of their chart-topping album.
A previously unknown independent worship artist, this significant charting has been a surprise to the industry but not to RMA (Rogue Music Alliance), the team behind Lindy Conant. RMA, the brainchild of worship industry mainstays Gabriel Wilson and David Staley and fueled only by Wilson's production, Staley's social media marketing hackery, and grassroots word of mouth momentum from the Circuit Riders, Every Nation also debuted on the Billboard Top 200 and at No. 19 on the Billboard Digital Albums Charts - completely independent of physical retail distribution.
Q: Lindy, congratulations for the release of your new album "Every Nation." Did you expect the album to debut at #1 on Billboard's Christian Albums chart?
No, I did not expect that! It was a surprise to me!
Q: Let's start with yourself. You always have a missionary heart, tell us about your involvement with missions.
I left Oklahoma to head to Youth With a Mission in 2007. My plan was to move to Africa and live my life among the poor and broken telling them about Jesus. In the midst of this journey God began to use worship as a tool to lead people to Jesus, which has brought me to where I am today! I still plan and hope to move overseas one day, but an in awe of what God is stirring up in America right now!
Q: Has your love for missions shaped your worship and music? If so, how?
Absolutely. Most song writers write from the inside out. I have the amazing privilege of being apart of one of the largest missions movement, YWAM. My involvement in this ministry has changed me from the inside out! I will never forget when I began to feel God's heart for the lost, I was never the same! John 3:16 came alive to me like never before and it directly influences my song writing.
Q: Who are the Circuit Riders?
YWAM Circuit Riders a grassroots movement of young people who are carrying the love of Jesus. We are a national family of activists and creatives who are obsessed with reaching our generation with Jesus' love and catalyzing change.Circuit Riders are simple and sacrificial men and women riding their circuit, calling like Paul Revere with an urgent message of revival unto revolution. Everything we do as Circuit Riders is sourced from the zeal we have to reach people with the Gospel. It is this drive for the lost that fuels our movement. It is His passion flowing through us for salvation that causes us to reach for and ride to as many as possible.
Q: On this new record, you've got to work with producer Gabriel Wilson who has worked with Bethel Music. How did you get to work with him? And what did you appreciate about his involvement?
Working with Gabriel was such a privilege! I got to work with him because I found his number and called him! Haha! I knew God was calling our band to do a live project. I started picking out which live albums I liked the most, and his name was always attached to it! I thought he would definitely say no, but God had others plans. Gabriel was and is more than our producer. He captured to heart of God for what was happening and made it come to life in a way we could have never imagined. Him and Dave Staley (RMA co-founder) have become some of our best friends through this process. This album would not have happened without them.
Q: Of the songs from the album, can you name a couple that you really means so much to you. And why?
Every Nation and Come what may.
Every Nation captures an anthem I believe will be sung throughout the bride of Christ worldwide. This song came out of a very intimate time with the Lord where I was filled with supernatural faith for nations and I was never the same.
Come What May was written out of a very vulnerable and hard season in my life. The chorus was written by one of our leaders, Andy Byrd. I was so struck with the lyrics of the chorus the verses form the heart cry leading up to it. It was a declaration of my heart that I will follow Jesus no matter what.
Q: With a #1 album under your belt, what's next for you?
Hopefully witnessing tons of people giving their lives to full time missions! ;) But definitely album number 2 with Gabriel! We are excited!
