Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum is Working on a Gospel Album with Family
Hillary Scott of country music's successful group Lady Antebellum is working on a Gospel album with her family. Whilst Lady Antebellum is on hiatus, Scott wants to work on an album close to her heart.
She is currently taking time out to record with her mother, Linda Davis, her father, Lang Scott, and her younger sister, Rylee Jean Scott. They are working on a gospel project that will include well-known hymns as well as songs newly written by the family.
Scott's mom, Linda Davis is a country singer in her own rights. Before beginning a career as a solo artist, she had three minor country singles in the charts as one half of the duo Skip & Linda. In her solo career, Davis has recorded five studio albums for major record labels and more than 15 singles. Her highest chart entry is "Does He Love You", her 1993 duet with Reba McEntire, which reached number one on the Billboard country charts and won both singers the Grammy for Best Country Vocal Collaboration. Her highest solo chart position is "Some Things Are Meant to Be" at No. 13 in 1996.
"As parents, it's so fun to be able to be involved in a project with both of our children," Linda Davis says. "It's a dream we didn't even know to dream about that's fallen into place."
Davis explains that the idea for the album came about after the family performed together at Jim Ed Brown's funeral in June.
"He was about family harmonies, and his family wanted us to be a part of that," she recalls. "Ever since Hillary was a little girl, [family harmony] is all she's known, as well as Rylee Jean, our youngest daughter."
