Christa Black, Songwriter for Passion's "One Thing Remains," Gives Birth on Father's Day
Songwriter and author Christa Black welcomed her third child to the world, appropriately on Father's Day. After losing her second child just hours after her birth, Christa calls the birth of brand new baby Birdie redemptive. The baby was born two months premature, but is already showing signs of growth and improvement.
On her blog, Black reflects: "Every day, I feel like I'm going to burst. Every day that we walk in to see her, I sense more heaven in her little NICU room than I ever have in any worship service, conference, or church. The hosts of heaven are singing over our little girl, the God of miracles is tending to her night and day. And because Luke and I are parking our hearts in the safe harbor of peace-it's literally overflowing into our daughter's her little body."
Black has travelled the world and shared the stage with renowned artists from the Jonas Brothers and Michael W. Smith to Jordin Sparks and Israel Houghton. She's been a keynote speaker for Women of Faith's Revolve Tour alongside Christine Caine, Natalie Grant, and Brit Nicole, and had her first number 1 hit as a songwriter when Passion's version of "One Thing Remains" topped the charts in both 2012 and 2013.
Black began her songwriting career during one of the most difficult times in her life. In a desert treatment facility for eating disorders, she admitted herself for forty days and picked up an old guitar, writing songs that helped cope with the pain of her addictions. Songwriting for personal therapy led to writing for others, and her songs-including the multi-platinum-selling songs "God Loves Ugly" and "Was I The Only One" recorded by American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, "Deep In Love With You" and "Help Is On The Way" by Grammy winning artist Michael W. Smith, 'One Thing Remains" by Kristian Stanfill of Passion, "Unstoppable Love" and "The King Is Here" by Kim Walker-Smith, and "Forever" by Kari Jobe-have inspired listeners to explore places of their heart they might have fought to ignore.
Black's book "God Loves Ugly" chronicles her personal journey out of destructive cycles into a life of freedom. Unashamedly transparent, she describes her painful struggle to find personal peace from the monsters of insecurity, self-hatred, sexual abuse, depression, and eating disorders. She takes the reader on a journey of self-discovery, exposing the negative thoughts, feelings, and emotions that can lead to paths of bondage. Her conversational style and light-hearted storytelling will leave you laughing at her mistakes, challenged by her teaching, and crying with her pain, inviting the reader into practical steps towards healing and freedom.
Both the book and CD God Loves Ugly coincide, pairing chapters with songs that represent each topic addressed.
