Donna King Celebrates Mother's Day A Year After Daughter's Battle with Drug Addiction
Mother's Day this year is an important day for singer, songwriter and producer Donna King. This Mother's Day, Donna will be celebrating one year since her daughter, Jenna, was finally free from a life threatening addiction with drugs. In an exclusive email with Hallels, King writes, "On Mother's Day, this year, I will receive the BEST Mother's Day present EVER. My beautiful daughter, Jenna, will be celebrating ONE YEAR clean after a 6 year life and death battle with DRUG addiction. The exact anniversary date of her first year free of drugs is May 10th, 2015; MOTHER'S DAY!"
Donna also recalls the pain she felt when she saw her daughter's painful ordeal with drugs. Spending Mother's Day last year without Jenna around was simply heartbreaking for Donna. "Last year, when we sent our precious, yet, broken and bruised baby girl to a recovery program 3000 miles away, I spent Mother's Day without her... But, now, because of what GOD has done in her life, we will be together on that WONDERFUL DAY! I'm flying to California to be with her (and my oldest daughter who my Jenna now lives with since graduating her recovery program). We will all have an AMAZING DAY!!!"
Thanks be to God, now Jenna is not only free from drugs, but she is also helping other young girls in battling their addictions. "Jenna is deeply involved in Celebrate Recovery at her church in Yorba Linda, California, Crosspoint Church now. She is even helping other young girls in their addiction battles. God's grace overwhelms us. We are so THANKFUL!!! And, we are so proud of her."
In celebration of Jenna's recovery, Donna has even recorded a song "Dancing with Fireflies" for her daughter. Donna and her husband Zane King have recently released their brand new album "Mile Marker One," which features songs such as "No One Like Our God," "Shine" and "Hallelujah Jesus Saves." Donna was also a top 10 finalist at the renowed NSAI Songwriting Contest.
