Maddie and Tae Restoring Worth to Womanhood with New Hit Song
In a genre where drinking, treating women like objects, partying are treated as the norm, Maddie and Tae have decided to put worth back to womanhood with their new country hit "Girl in a Country Song." The song reached a new level of success in country music history this week.
"Girl in a Country Song" has been slowly and surely made its way into the country charts. This week the song sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart - the first female act to grab the slot in more than two years. Carrie Underwood was the last female artist to hit No. 1, with 'Blown Away' in October 2012. 'Girl in a Country Song' is also the first debut song by a female act to hit No. 1 in almost five years.
These tabulations don't include country groups with females in them, but the numbers still speak for themselves. The single has already been certified gold, with over 500,000 digital downloads.
