Matthew West Releases New Christmas Single 'A Christmas to Believe In' Available Now on iTunes
Matthew West is getting his fans in the holiday spirit early this year by releasing a new Christmas single titled, "A Christmas to Believe In". There will be a lyric video releasing on December 2nd, but the song is currently available to purchase on iTunes here.
The Christian singer/songwriter released a press release about the new Christmas single sharing, "Christmas is my favorite time of year. I'm that guy who starts listening to Christmas music long before Thanksgiving even hits. The single 'A Christmas To Believe In' began with the thought that for some, Christmas may feel more like a season to merely try and get through or survive. But, my hope is that this song paints a warm picture of all the things that truly make this the most special time of year and a reminder not to miss it."
Family Christian Bookstores released "A Christmas to Believe In" exclusively as part of a compilation album. "They commissioned me to write a new Christmas song based on the theme that they had. The theme they have for this Christmas is 'Believe'. I went to work and wrote two or three different Christmas songs. It was the idea that I kind of happened upon was this song 'A Christmas to Believe In'" he told BREATHEcast.
West was invited by Dr. David Jeremiah to perform at "A Night of Celebration" on December 4 at the Beacon Theater in NYC alongside Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and singer Nicole Nordeman.
West was named Songwriter of the Year at the 36th annual ASCAP Christian Music Awards after having an amazing 2013 with his hit song "Hello My Name Is," a record-breaking No. 1 song at Christian radio for 17 weeks. This song also earned West the ASCAP Song of the Year. He was also honored for his song "Already There" as recorded by Casting Crowns. The ASCAP Awards were held at the historic Franklin Theatre recognizing the songwriters and publishers of the year's most-performed Christian music songs. This year marks ASCAP's 100th Anniversary.
