Third Day Will Be Back with New Worship Album "Lead Us Back" on March 3, 2015
Multi-platinum selling Christian rock band Third Day are preparing to release their forthcoming worship album "Lead Us Back." The planned new album is scheduled to be released on March 3 of next year.
This will be the band's first worship album in over ten years. "Lead Us Back" will be Third Day's third worship album and have a special deluxe version with 10 more songs featuring band favorites that were recorded live on the road from a previous tour. "We've wanted to do a worship album for quite a while but have been waiting for the right time. NOW is that time! I believe this is the best batch of songs that we have ever recorded!" said vocalist Mac Powell in a press release.
Bass player Tai Anderson added, "'Lead Us Back' is a call to worship not just for our audience but the band as well. Why now? We're ready for these songs. We're ready to feel God's spirit fall afresh on all of us again."
Third Day has garnered 25 No. 1 singles across multiple formats-not to mention armloads of Grammy and Dove Awards. Yet the band's willingness to struggle openly before fans and critics alike to unearth its identity, purpose and mission stands as Third Day's most valued accomplishment during its first decade together. Backing up the band's ascent, Billboard magazine noted the act is "not only one of the best Christian bands of the '90s but one of the best rock bands, period."
Third Day has clearly weathered the difficult climb from obscurity to success, but the band is hardly suffering from over-confidence or complacency. In fact, the band's eleventh album, Revelation, addresses that very issue head-on. Rather than lean back in a figurative easy chair, Third Day challenged itself immensely, shaking up its direction and reasserting its place as a rock band of enormous depth and passion.
"Our career is like a dream I didn't even know I had," drummer David Carr says. "It's gone beyond anything I could have dreamed of."
"I think the essence of Third Day music," said drummer David Carr, "has always had a thread of worship to it, whether we've classified an album as worship or not. Though we are confident in the direction we took on previous albums, we felt it was time for us to revisit the emotion and heart that comes through when the songs are unabashedly directed to God."
Third Day, is comprised of members Mac Powell, Tai Anderson, David Carr and Mark Lee. During the last two decades, they have racked up 30 No. 1 radio singles and sold more than eight million albums, including two RIAA 2x Multi Platinum, five Platinum and 12 Gold certifications.
