Microsoft Azure Update: With Apple Managing Its iCloud Problems Microsoft Has Taken The Opportunity To Develop And Extend The Capabilities Of Their Cloud Program Azure To Take On Amazon And Google
We have the latest for you on the Microsoft Azure update. With Apple managing its iCloud problems that it recently encountered when it was hacked, Microsoft has taken the opportunity to develop and extend the capabilities of their Cloud program Azure and in a statement released in Barcelona, new capabilities in the Cloud Computing service include, Resource management, job scheduling service and analytics which is targeted towards customers in an aid to stop problems brought about by on-premise infrastructure, according to V3 news.
At a TechEd Europe Conference, Jason Zander, Microsoft's corporate vice president for the cloud and Enterprise group explained to the audience in attendance that the cloud can only be offered so far by three vendors, i.e. Amazon, Microsoft and Google. These were chosen as they can offer the cloud product on a global scale that the enterprises require. "We want to differentiate ourselves from the other two with hybrid cloud and enterprise-grade capabilities that they can't deliver," he said.
This did not go without a demonstration as Zander announced about the Azure Operational insights, a special service that will soon be available as a preview. This is set to take telemetry from a customer's infrastructure and then upload it to the cloud for processing using Azure and HDinsight to deliver key information on health and other factors. "What we will allow you to do is install an agent on existing servers, upload telemetry and take advantage of advanced analytical insights to find out how things are running," Zander said. Well this is going to be a huge step in improving the product as now one as the administrator can access information directly without necessarily searching through lists of logs as before as at which servers have not had critical patches applied.
Well with now the Azure Batch made as a public preview has brought about Job scheduling as a service which has increased flexibility in many parallel instances a good example is when one does not have to create a script or manually provision multiple instances of a job. Microsoft demonstrated this using the Blender Software which in turn rendered 3D scenes in the cloud.
