WWE 2K15: Release for Next Gen Consoles Delayed; CM Punk Sends Lawyers to Battle WWE for Royalties in Upcoming Video Game

WWE 2K15, developed by Visual Concepts and Yuke's, and published by 2K Sports, for the Xbox One and PS4 next gen game consoles will be released on November 18 in North America and on November 21 in Europe instead of the originally announced dates of October 28 in North America and October 31 in Europe. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the video game however will continue to released as scheduled.

According to 2K, the delay in the release of the next gen iteration of the game "is in the interest of delivering the best possible WWE experience to you, the fans, and 2K's development teams are working hard to ensure its success." Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, in addition said: "Visual Concepts and Yuke's are committed to delivering the most authentic and action-packed WWE experience to date, including release for the very first time on next-generation consoles. The additional development time enables our talented teams to ensure the WWE 2K15 next-gen experience fully meets our expectations."

WWE 2K15 will have John Cena on the cover. As pre-order bonus, it will also have Sting as two playable characters in the game: one in his black-and-white crow-inspired persona, the other a blond flat-topped surfer. There will also be 25,000 collector's editions that will be produced. A collector's edition includes premium packaging, a collectable art card hand-signed by Hulk Hogan, a Funko vinyl "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan action figure, a piece of the ring canvas from Hogan's March 10, 2014, WWE Raw appearance, two playable pre-order launch-exclusive Hulk Hogan characters, and the two playable Sting characters. According to Attack of the Fanboy, Hogan has finally finished writing all of the signatures for the WWE 2K15 Hulkamania Edition art cards. Hulk started with the task July and finished this month. He tweeted, "25000 WWE2K15 cards officially done brother!!!!! Fried, dyed and laid to the side, brutal!! As Ron Simmons says DAMN"

For the Xbox One and PS4 versions, the WWE 2K15 game will also have a MyCareer mode similar to the NBA 2K14 wherein gamers can take on the persona of a Superstar or Diva made in the Creative Suite, and follow through with a simulated WWE career progression.

WWE 2K15 features what is called '2K Showcase', a story mode which will basically be similar to WWE 2K14's "30 Years of WrestleMania" mode in that it focuses on historical events. The mode will provide an up-close look at personal rivalries and will feature thirty-three matches. The 2K Showcase will be particularly highlighting the John Cena and CM Punk history of rivalries. Understandably, lawyers for the retired pro wrestler have reportedly sent a 22-page letter to WWE regarding payment of royalties for their use of CM Punk's likeness in the WWE 2K15 video game. According to a report from Wrestle Mania, WWE even muted the live fan reaction when CM Punk's name was mentioned among the superstars that will be featured in the game by Steve Austin and Renee Young during last week's Network WWE 2K15 roster reveal special.
