The Simpsons News: A Character Dies and Krusty the Clown Retires, Again
FOX's The Simpsons premiere episode for its 26th season hits the TV screens this Sunday, September 28, at its regular 8 PM time slot. Entitled "Clown in the Dumps," the show will be the franchise's 553rd episode since it was first launched on air back in December 1989. According to the synopsis at Fox's The Simpsons wiki, viewers on Sunday will see that "a Springfield resident dies and Krusty the Clown retires after he's offended by a comedy cable channel roast of him, meanwhile Lisa tries to protect Homer from getting sick and hurt."
The upcoming death of a Springfield resident in The Simpsons premiere for 2014 isn't the first in the longest-running American animated sitcom program. In Season 15, in the "My Mother the Carjacker" episode, The Simpsons' Stevie McGregor who was a friend of Homer's office mates Lenny and Carl was talked about as having been killed with his head still not having been recovered by the police. In fact, several The Simpsons characters, both recurring and one-time, have already died on the show. For instance, just last season, Chip Davis, Lyla, and Edna Krabappel died. But what about Krusty the Clown's impending retirement? It won't be his first either. Krusty, who has been married 15 times, also often retires from and then returns to showbiz.
Considered by many as one of the greatest TV series of all time, The Simpson has spawned several spin-offs, including comic books, video games, the 2007 The Simpsons Movie, The Simpsons Ride in the Krustyland theme park at the Universal Studios in Orlando and Hollywood, and several The Simpsons merchandise products. The complete FOX's The Simpsons full episode guide can be accessed at The Simpsons Archive and The Simpsons wiki.
