The 100 Season 2 Producer Rothenberg says Season Will Start at the 'Mount Weather Quarantine Ward' - an Underground Version of the Ark, Premieres this October 22
CW's sci-fi drama The 100 is renewed for a season 2, scheduled for release on October 22, 2014 at 9PM.
At the end of season 1, Anya, Clarke, and Monty are captured, as the battle between the 100 and the Grounders lead to disastrous chaos and casualties. The people on the Ark had returned to Earth.
Season 1 ends with Clarke waking up in a secured facility, and Monty locked up in a room. Later it's revealed that they're in a placed called "Mount Weather Quarantine Ward". The season 2 will start in the said ward.
In the second season, the scene starts with Clarke, incarcerated, drastically and violently. Later, Clarke is seen viewing what is outside of the facility. The producer assures that The 100 fans will be able to grasp the new setting right away.
As the characters were separated at the end of season 1, one of the focal points in the second season is the reunion of these characters.
Executive producer of The 100, Jason Rothenberg, said that the new season will be "really different, because there's no Ark, there's no space element, so it's a really different feeling for the show". Regarding Mount Weather, "It's a unique environment...we spent a lot of money building it and we're going to tell a lot of story there". He says Mount Weather is like "an underground version of the Ark, although it's a mirror image". He says he is mostly excited about the story of Abby and Clarke in the new season "since they haven't been together since the pilot".
Catch the first episode of The 100 season 2 on October 22, 2014 at 9PM.
