Pirates of the Carribean 5 Release date, news and Updates: Orlando Bloom to Possibly Return for Upcoming Sequel
The report came from The Daily Mail that during a discussion panel at the Oz Comic-Con in Brisbane, Austrlia, Orlando Bloom was asked whether he'll be involved with Pirates of the Caribbean 5, titled "Dead Men Tell No Tales". The actor dropped a vague hint by saying, "There have been some discussions about it, and I'm open to it."
The problem with the statement is in its vagueness. Who has he been discussing this with? The Director? Writers? Producers? His agent? But to put that aside, it is a joy to know that he is still interested to return to the franchise, and it would bring back a dynamic to the set of characters that felt like was missing from the last installment.
Orlando Bloom played blacksmith turned pirate William Turner for the first three 'Pirates' movies, and was a vital character for the film franchise's overall story arc. In the 2011 sequel 'On Stranger Tides' however, he, along with Kiera Knightly, who played his love interest, Elizabeth Swan, was not invited to return as well.
Bloom's character was last seen during the after-credits scene returning to Elizabeth Swan after 10 years of serving as captain of The Flying Dutchman, which was tasked to harbor lost souls in the sea. It would actually be interesting to see how they can work his character in 'Pirates 5.' The fifth installment is titled 'Dead Men Tell No Tales,' and by judging by the title alone, William Turner's return would make a lot of sense.
Another casting rumor which was reported again by The Daily Mail is that Austrian-born actor Christoph Waltz is set to play the new villain of the film named Captain Brand. He's been described as a ghost who is racing against Jack Sparrow to claim The Trident, and avenge the death of his brother Eric who was accused and executed for piracy because of Sparrow. This however should be taken with a grain of salt, knowing that The Daily Mail has not named their sources. If Waltz does join the cast as the villain, then it would certainly be fun to see him in this kind of role, knowing that he has made a name for himself for playing 'Inglorious Basterds' villainous Nazi Jew hunter Hans Landa.
With all the rumors and speculations going around, one thing is for certain: The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is happening. The film is scheduled to be released on July 7, 2017.
