Neil Patrick Harris Marries David Burtka in Italy Over the Weekend
The "How I Met Your Mother" star shares in a tweet, Monday; "Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup,we put the ‘n' and ‘d' in husband."
It's official everyone, Neil Patrick Harris - stage and television actor, producer, singer, and director who is best known for portraying Barney Stinson in the long-running comedy series "How I Met Your Mother" is finally married to David Burtka - his partner for 10 years and an actor and chef. They are parents to 3-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper.
It was gathering that is just perfectly made for the two, with the presence of the great Elton John performing at the reception of the wedding for the newly weds and their guests, family and friends. The two was wearing matching and custom made Tom Ford tuxedos. The intimate ceremony was held privately over the weekend. It was officiated by Pam Fryman, a producer/director from "How I Met Your Mother."
According to Harris, they already proposed to one another even before gay marriage was legalized in New York in 2011. And that when it became legalized, it was simply formalization of their engagement to each other.
Harris has been nominated for four Emmy Awards from "How I Met Your Mother" and has long been involved with stage productions such as, "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" where he won a Tony Award, "Assassins," "Proof" and "Cabaret." Burtka was also seen in the revival "Gypsy" and "The Play About the Baby."
