Eddie Redmayne Stars in an Oscar Worthy Performance in ‘The Theory of Everything'
"In a place of great minds, Stephen Hawking made a connection that changed everything."
"This November, hope is everything. Life is everything. Love is everything."
Focus Features "The Theory of Everything" that stars Eddie Redmayne as astrophysicist Stephen Hawking and Felicity Jones as Jane Hawking recently released the first trailer for the highly-anticipated biopic. The film had its world premiere at the recent Toronto International Film Festival, Sunday.
With the film gearing for a November 7 release date, we sure know what that means. It is definitely one of those high-profile films who will go head-to-head with the kick-off of the Oscars and awards season. Surrounded with mainly positive reviews from both the critics and the public, the James Marsh-directed film is already and quickly rising up as a very strong frontrunner come awards season. Critics and alike are putting their bets on the two leads Redmayne and Jones and that their excellent performances give them assured slots as Oscar nominees. It has all the right ingredients for Academy success.
The film tells the story of the young genius Stephen Hawking during his early days in Cambridge where he also met his college sweetheart/future wife Jane. The film is based on an autobiography of Jane Hawking.
In the trailer, Stephen introduces himself as a cosmologist, which is the study of the marriage of space and time. Sparks fly between them when they meet at a ball. They are the perfect couple until Stephen is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig's disease. Face with the toughest battle, Stephen is devastated but Jane remains on his side and fights the illness together with him.
Redmayne, the "My Week with Marilyn" British star shared in an interview that he spent seven months preparing for the role with a choreographer and in clinics of ALS patients. The actor even went to see Hawking before he sees the film. He adds, it's an unconventional love story, a story of all kinds of love and the flaws of relationships.
Explore the origins of the universe with the first trailer of the film. "The Theory of Everything" opens Nov. 7 in North America.
