Drew Barrymore Stars in New Drama with Toni Collette in ‘Miss You Already'
Drew Barrymore is back in filming as she joins Toni Collette in the new drama film "Miss You Already." She was last seen in Blended with Adam Sandler, but this time she's going drama. The film will be directed by "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke, with screenplay penned from British writer and actor Morwenna Banks, according to an initial report from Variety.
The film will tackle the relationship of two long-time best of friends, portrayed by Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette, until both of them hit a crossroad with their respective lives. Barrymore's character has been longing for a baby but has been struggling to make it work. She shares this sentiment with her friend played by Colette, but Colette's character suddenly discovers she has breast cancer. Both of their dilemmas complicate matters with their husbands, played by Dominic Cooper and Paddy Considine.
Jacqueline Bisset also co-stars as Toni Collette's mother. According to the report, production is set to start in the UK on Sunday, with majority of its location to be filmed in London and then partly with Yorkshire Moors. It was also reported that Rachel Weisz was previously attached for Barrymore's role.
The film's director Hardwicke explains that the film is an exploration of the challenges and the good times of a long-time and intense friendship. Viewers can expect some really good drama and performances when the film comes out.
The film will be distributed by Entertainment One in the UK, with producers Christopher Simon and Felix Vossen; and funded by London-based New Sparta Films and Exponential Media.
