The Vampire Diaries Season 6 Spoilers, Episode 1: Caroline Will Try To Hold The Group Together, Matt Will Get A New Love Interest, It Will Take Off Many Months After The Events Of The Season 5 Finale

When Vampire Diaries Season 6 returns to air on October 2, Elena and friends are still finding it hard to adjust in the wake of Damon and Bonnie's "death" during the last season's finale. And this will be Caroline's cue to do her thing. But according to executive producer Julie Plec in a talk with TVGuide, "[She is] trying to hold the whole group together and is just, in her mind, failing miserably and really struggling....[especially with Stefan, who] "reacts to Damon's loss in ways we wouldn't expect."

Previously, Plec told TVGuide, "Caroline is probably someone who will surprise you. She's taken this loss - in a weird way almost the hardest - so she's going to have to bounce back in her Caroline way. Who she bounces back with and how she does it and how she's living her life is revealed in the first episode. Her journey is where are all her friends and if only she could figure out a way to bring them all back together, get the magic back to Mystic Falls, find a way to bring Damon and Bonnie home then life would be perfect. But it's harder than she thought."

Episode 1 of Season 6 of The Vampire Diaries is entitled "I'll Remember." The returning cast includes Candice Accola as Caroline, Nina Dobrev as Elena, Paul Wesley as Stefan, Ian Somerhalder as Damon, Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy, Kat Graham as Bonnie, Zac Roerig as Matt, Michael Tevino as Tyler, Matt Davis as Alaric, and Michel Malarkey as Enzo.
