Christian Artists and Leaders Respond to Donald Trump's Presidential Win
Former President Donald Trump was reelected for a second, nonconsecutive term to serve as the 47th president of the United States yesterday. He has promised to "help our country heal" after a bruising campaign during which he escaped two assassination attempts.
Here are the reactions from Christian artists and leaders:
Anne Wilson:
A night & moment in time I will never forget. Wow. The Lord is gracious & so merciful. Our nation didn't deserve this win. But GOD. His plans are higher & His ways are greater. I am more than hopeful for the future of our country now. I just can't believe it!!!! In awe. Praying for you @realdonaldtrump as you become our next president!!!
Franklin Graham:
I thank God that @realDonaldTrump won this election! This win is historic in many ways. Millions and millions of people were praying, and I believe God heard their prayers.
It's a win for the family.
It's a win for the economy.
It's a win for millions of unborn children.
It's a win for freedom of speech.
It's a win for religious liberty.
It's a win for law and order.
It's a win for American manufacturing.
It's a win for coal miners.
It's a win for farmers.
It's a win for the oil and gas industry.
It's a win for national security.
It's a win against bureaucracy and government regulators.
It's a win for freedom-loving people everywhere, not just here in America, but around the world.
Rhett Walker:
I'm not a huge fan of Trump. But...
I voted for my families future. I voted for my border to be properly vetted and secure. I voted for my girls, that my president would know what a woman is and respect it. I voted that men couldn't pretend to be women and erase all the accomplishments women have achieved. I voted for our future and to be able to afford it. This election has been one for the books. I'm sure I have lost fans with my openness.... But before I'm "Rhett Walker", I'm a Believer, Husband and Dad. Much love to everyone! Now let's go to work!
Greg Laurie:
After winning the presidency, Donald Trump made this statement-
"'God spared my life for a reason - to save our country and restore America to greatness."
I believe this is true. America needs restoration. President Trump could have died so easily in the assassination attempts on his life, but God did indeed spare him. When President Ronald Reagan was shot early in his presidency, he too felt God had spared his life.
The night Reagan returned to the White House
he confided in his diary, "Whatever happens now I owe my life to God and will serve Him every way I can."
Ronald Reagan went on have one of the greatest presidencies in American history.
Let's pray now for President Trump that he will be surrounded by godly and competent people who will give him good counsel in the days ahead. God bless President Trump and God bless the United States of America!
Sean Feucht:
I've had the privilege of praying over this man inside & outside the Oval Office several times.
I believe the enemy had perfectly orchestrated a scheme to take him out for good. But God miraculously spared his life with a last second 2 millimeter head tilt - for such a time as this!
He is not yet finished with President Trump. I've stood by this through every primary candidate, every court case and every attack (those who know me best can attest to this!).
God is not done doing what God does - using broken people to fulfill his purposes on the earth.
Mark Driscoll:
God showed his mercy on our great nation tonight. To the millions of American evangelicals who abstained from voting in record low turnout: God's will was done in spite of you.
