Jody and Lani Release Feel-Good Single "As Long As I Live"
Texas-based husband and wife duo, Jody and Lani, are set to release their latest single, "As Long As I Live" on August 30. With a hint of 80's nostalgia, this song is a happy reminder of Psalm 104:33, "I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live."
Psalm 104 highlights God's greatness and power revealed through creation. "As Long As I Live" is a pledge of devotion and personal worship. "With every song / With every breath / 'Til I have nothing left / As long as I live I will sing Your praise," the lyrics declare.
"Worship is so much more than a few songs on a Sunday morning. It is an ongoing response to who God is and what He has done. Despite what may be happening in our lives, we find peace in His presence when we lift our eyes above our own circumstances and offer our praise," Lani shared.
The song was actually a collaboration among writers from four different states using a combination of video calls, text, voice memos, and doc share, over multiple sessions.
"Although we were never physically in the same room or even working at the same time, it's amazing to see how a creative idea can be carried out together." Lani said. "Neena Elliott and Brittany Rocha started it with me and later we added Hailey Hibbard. I kept coming back to the song because I felt like it would be perfect for youth camps. When we finally introduced it a year-and-a-half later, our band embraced it and added so much life to it. The students instantly responded and now we lead it everywhere we go."
Jody Crump, produced, mixed and mastered the song at his Studio C - TXK, in Texarkana, Texas. Pulling in Josh Anderson on synth / keys / electric guitars, John Michael Bullock on piano, and Adam Urbanczyk on drums, the recording came together under Jody's production.
"We are grateful to be building community with musicians in our area. We've gotten to know so many people. It's fun to find ways to work together," Jody said.
"As Long As I Live" is the eighth release for Jody and Lani as a duo. Other popular titles include "Find Me Faithful" and "Clear The Way". Aside from producing and releasing their own music, Jody and Lani are worship leaders and songwriters. Jody was formerly a member of the band Pocket Full of Rocks, while Lani worked in the music industry before the couple began leading worship together in their local church. The couple hopes their songs encourage listeners to experience God's presence through authentic worship. They are married with three children and recently relocated from Nashville, Tenn. to Jody's hometown Texarkana, Texas.
