Christian Leaders Call Upon Prayers as Hamas Attacks Israel
On Saturday (Oct 7), Hamas militants stormed into Israeli towns, killing dozens and abducting others in an unprecedented surprise attack. A stunned Israel launched air strikes in Gaza, with its prime minister saying the country is now at war with Hamas and vowing to inflict an "unprecedented price."
At least 250 Israelis have been reported killed and over 1,500 have been injured in Hamas attacks that included over 2,000 rocket launches on Saturday. The terrorist group invaded 22 communities where fighting is ongoing into Saturday evening local time. It's reported that at least 230 people have been killed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. The IDF also confirmed that an unknown number of Israeli civilians and soldiers are being held hostage by Hamas.
Speaking from the White House late Saturday afternoon, President Joe Biden said the U.S. stands with Israel and support is "rock solid." The president's comments come after U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, criticized the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs for posting a message on social media urging Israel to "refrain from retaliatory attacks."
Leaders from the Christian community are calling upon Christians to pray for Israel:
Darlene Zschech cites Psalm 122:6, as she calls upon her Instagram followers to pray.
Phil Wickham adds, "So saddened and heavy heartened by the news and images from Israel today. Devastating to hear of the violence, and loss of life. Praying for peace and God's hand of mercy to move over the region."
Sean Feucht writes, "Praying for the people and nation of Israel tonight `I will dwell among the descendants of Israel, and will never abandon My people Israel.' - 1 Kings 6:13."
Brian and Bobbie Houston, founders of Hillsong Church, write:
Deeply concerned and praying for Israel and for what this is.
* Father, help those injured and in deep duress right now. Those who have been slaughtered and taken hostage.
* Father, HOLD BACK AND CONFUSE the hands who perpetrate terrorism, war, death.
* Father, give the govts of this world GODLY wisdom, discernment, strategy.
* Lord have mercy upon EVERY nation, UPON ALL PEOPLE.
Praying for those we know & love in the land. For friends & family within @hillsongisrael ... "Lord protect & keep them ... set your Angels around & about, in Jesus Name."
Harvest Christian Fellowship:
Israel is at war. They have been attacked by the terrorist organization, Hamas, which is backed by Iran. This is an act of pure evil and Israel has every right to defend herself. The Jewish people are back in their homeland as a fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
The Bible tells us to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem" (Ps.122:6). Pray for the citizens of Israel as well as for the many tourist groups that are there from around the world. May God protect them and give wisdom to their Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. #PrayforIsrael
Gateway Worship and Church:
We need to pray! Israel is currently under attack. At this time, over 100 people have been murdered, and numerous hostages have been taken, and Israel is at war. There has not been an attack like this in Israel in decades. We pray for the peace of Israel. Would you please pause to join us in prayer? #prayforisrael
