One Republic Song 'Ordinary Human' Featured in New 'The Giver' Trailer Released Starring Taylor Swift, Alexander Skarsgard, Meryl Streep & Katie Holmes, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The Weinstein Company has released a new trailer for "The Giver" movie with One Republic song "Ordinary Human" as the backdrop music. The new teaser features cast stars Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Swift, Katie Holmes, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep and Brenton Thwaites.
"The secret is out, we did an original song, "Ordinary Human", for the movie The Giver (Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges) coming out this August!" One Republic tweeted.
The Giver is just a few weeks away from it's late Summer release (August 15th, 2014). Taylor Swift will play the role of Rosemary, the Giver's daughter, in Phillip Noyce's adaptation of the 1993 young adult novel. Swift does not have a large role in the movie, but director Phil Noyce shares how 'important' her role is in the film.
The new movie The Giver is based on Lois Lowry's beloved young adult novel of the same name, which was the winner the 1994 Newbury Medal and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. It is also the big screen acting debut of country/pop music superstar, Taylor Swift.
The haunting story of The Giver centers on Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community.
Plot: In a perfect world where there is no conflict, racism or sickness, every member of society has a specific role, and 16-year-old Jonas is selected to be the Receiver of Memories. As Jonas uncovers the truth behind his world's past, he discovers that many years earlier his forefathers gave up humanity in order to have a stable society.
The Giver is directed by Phil Noyce, written by Michael Mitnick and made by the studio The Weinstein Company. Filming began on October 7, 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa. Meryl Streep had some of her scenes shot in England, where she also filmed Rob Marshall's Into the Woods, before doing additional filming two months later in Cape Town.
