Christian Leaders & Artists Remember 9/11
Twenty one years ago, on September 11, 2001, four coordinated suicide terrorist attacks were aimed at the United States. That morning, nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners scheduled to travel from the northeastern U.S. to California.
The hijackers crashed the first two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and the third plane into the Pentagon (the headquarters of the American military) in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane was intended to hit a federal government building in Washington, D.C., but crashed in a field following a passenger revolt. The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people and instigated the global war on terror.
Christian music artists and leaders take the time to remember the tragedy as they look to God for guidance and peace with the following statements:
Greg Laurie:
As we grieve and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, I'm reminded of the short spiritual awaking and a new unity the tragedy sparked in our nation. We rallied around one another and relied on God like never before. Remember Congress spontaneously singing 'God Bless America' on the Capitol steps? We need that unity again. May God help our nation and comfort the families who lost loved ones on 9/11. As I pray for the families and friends of those who lost loved ones that awful day and in the weeks following, I petition God for a new spirit of revival and edification across our nation.
Ernie Haase:
We will remember every rescuer who died in honor. We will remember every family that lives in grief.
Gary LeVox:
Can't let today go by without remembering all those we lost on 9/11 and those who sacrificed their own lives to save their brothers & sisters.
God Bless you all and God Bless America. Never forget!
Rev. Samuel Rodriguez:
May we never forget the sacrifices and contributions made by those during and after Sept. 11, 2001. Today, Americans grieve collectively yet we remain committed to making this nation and this world safer and more just, creating a brighter future for all, with the blessing of God, our Creator and Sustainer.
Rhett Walker:
Here's to the ones who stand their ground
Here's to the ones that never back down
Here's to the home of the free
Here's to the ones who still believe
in taking chances and running down a dream
Here's to the red white and blue
Here's to people like me and you
Crowder:
Praying for all of the families and friends of those who lost their lives.
Brian Free and Assurance:
We will never forget the lives lost, the first responders, and the bravery of those who take a stand against evil.
Dr. Tim Clinton:
The apostle Paul tells us to 'mourn with those who mourn,' so on this sobering anniversary of September 11, 2001, may we lay aside our differences and open our hearts and extend our hands to all those who are suffering the unbearable pain of loss today
Cochren & Co.:
God bless those who mourn the loss of loved ones 21 years later.
