Singer and Songwriter Gretchen Peters Raises $20,000 for the Children of Ukraine
Singer and songwriter Gretchen Peters' two livestreamed concerts raised over $20,000. The online concerts benefitted Voices of Children, a Ukrainian organization which provides psychological and psychosocial support to children suffering the consequences of war.
The first concert features Peters performing with Mary Gauthier and Jaimee Harris, and the second with Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal. You can still help the children of Ukraine by donating directly to Voices of Children.
Voices of Children, a Ukrainian organization, provides psychological and psychosocial support to children suffering the consequences of war. Today, during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Voices of Children is providing non-stop assistance to affected children and families from all over the country, providing emergency psychological assistance, and assisting in the evacuation process.
For two decades, Gretchen Peters has been one of Nashville's most beloved and respected artists. Her song "Independence Day", recorded by Martina McBride, won a CMA Song of the Year award in 1995. She has been nominated for 2 Grammys ("Independence Day/Martina McBride, "You Don't Even Know Who I Am"/Patty Loveless), a Golden Globe ("Here I Am"/Bryan Adams), and numerous other awards.
Her 2015 album, Blackbirds was awarded International Album of the Year and Song of the Year by the UK Americana Association. In 2015, The Telegraph named her one of the greatest 60 female singer-songwriters of all time. In 2021, she was awarded The Poets Award by the Academy of Country Music "for outstanding and longstanding musical and lyrical contributions throughout her career."
