Anne Wilson, Paul Baloche, Israel Houghton, Nicole Binion, Crowder & Others Reflect on 9/11
We remember the 20th anniversary of 9/11 today. On September 11, 2001, four coordinated terrorist attacks by the militant Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda were launched against the US. It was the start of the deadliest terror attack on US soil. The attacks resulted in 2,977 fatalities, over 25,000 injuries, and substantial long-term health consequences, in addition to at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage. Christian artists have taken the time to reflect on this event.
Anne Wilson:
I wasn't born yet. I wasn't alive yet to experience this or see any of it. But every year I feel so deeply and grieve with all those who lost someone. What a horrible act of terrorism and hatred. I truly cannot believe the tragedy of this and what a devastating time this was. I'm so thankful for those who sacrificed their lives in order to save others through this. I can't even begin to imagine. I'm praying for all those that are grieving and remembering today. I'm praying that Jesus will give you the peace and comfort that only HE can give. May you experience His joy as you reflect on the memories with your loved ones. UNITED we stand.
Paul Baloche:
The Freedom Tower stands where the Twin Towers once stood. Living in New York City has given us a humble and greater appreciation for what those days and weeks felt like to those who lived through it. Our neighbors tell stories of loss, sacrifice, and inspiration that they experienced in the aftermath of this unthinkable attack on our nation. Let us remember and reflect. Let it change us. May we learn to love our neighbors as ourselves. May we do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.
Israel Houghton:
To wake up this morning in the greatest city in the world 20 years later to the day of the most horrific attack on our nation is a bit strange. My heart continues to mourn the loss of such beautiful men and women. It also continues to applaud the brave men and women who gave all that day to protect others.
I still believe in the America that unified immediately that day regardless of race, religion, sexual or political persuasion - we just came together in solidarity and love.
Sometimes I don't recognize us as a nation anymore - but on days like today I find strength in who we can be because of who we've been for generations.
Nicole Binion:
I can't believe it's been 20 years. I don't think any of us will ever forget where we were when we watched this tragedy unfold before our eyes. May we always remember the dark days the Lord has brought us through personally, as the church of Jesus Christ, and as a nation. And let that testimony speak to what we face today...the Lord is faithful and true. I love Psalm 91:1-2 "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.""
Crowder:
Praying for all of the families and friends of those who lost their lives.
Kathy Troccolli:
What once was and what at once is... we never forget. A deep ache lives inside twenty years later, but, Hope also lives. May He guide us, bless us and keep us.
Brian and Bobbie Houston of Hillsong Church:
TANDING WITH FELLOW HUMANITY ... to remember those tragically lost 20yrs ago ... to respect and honor the courage revealed and borne that day ... and to pray that our world going forward will be known for what unites rather than divides. Mindful also of the multitude of others around the world, who have lost family, homes and dreams to the horror of terrorism. You are not forgotten.
