Planetshakers’ Youth Band planetboom Releases “Jesus Is The Key"
The dynamic, multicultural youth ministry of Planetshakers Church, planetboom, responds this week to challenging times being faced globally with a prayerful, declarative cry out to God, "Jesus Is The Key." The song releases today (May1) at Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Google Music, Deezer, Pandora, and YouTube Music.
Written by planetboom youth pastor, songwriter, author and drummer Andy Harrison, produced by creative director Josh Ham and mixed by worship leader Joth Hunt, "Jesus Is The Key" features vocalist Noah Walker leading this plaintive, hopeful prayer declaring the rescuing work of Jesus amidst the crisis the world is facing.
Jesus is the Key,
With all authority
High and lifted up
The Son of God
You are, You are, You are the headline for all eternity
You are, You are, You are the center of everything
(Lyrics from "Jesus Is Key")
Writing and recording the song, as well as filming a "Jesus Is The Key" video all in one day, Harrison shares what led to the new song: "Over the last few weeks, both in the events of my own life and in those happening around the world, I have felt the Holy Spirit stir me to simply put all of my focus on Jesus. To zoom-in on Him until He's all I see; to fill every conversation and every thought with Him. He is our foundation, the glue holding our lives together and the key to every single thing we face.
"In a season where every morning we seem to wake up to a new headline of doom and gloom, I felt God wanted to remind me and remind a generation that the main theme of 2020 is not catastrophe, pandemic or fear. The main theme is still Jesus Christ," continues Harrison, taking a cue from Colossians 1:16-19. "Jesus is the headline for all of eternity. It is all for Him and all about Him. It all exists to bring Him glory."
Capturing the heart behind the song, Walker is filmed in the deserted streets of Melbourne, Australia, which are normally packed with people. With the camera filming Walker from behind him as he walked in solitude along the streets, Harrison says, "It's less about a person, and more about Jesus, and our reaching out to God who is the Key, and who is close."
With public gatherings and church services closed in Australia, as in much of the world, planetboom and Planetshakers Church is bringing a message of hope for such a time as this online. More than 400,000 people tuned into Planetshakers Church services online over the last two Sundays, doubling the number of people that are usually tuning in online.
"Be impressed and enamored by Him again...Be surprised by how simple things are as you look to Him," shares Harrison during a recent Sunday service. "The headline of eternity is Jesus Christ...He is not a discarded hero to be remembered every now and then... This is all about Him!"
Inspired by the diverse youth culture at planetboom that represents at least 60 nationalities, the new single and video follow the release of the declarative songs "ILY," "Unshakeable," "Praise on Praise" and "Saints," and the band's 'K-pop style' song of thanks, "Kamsahamnida." It also follows planetboom's acclaimed and first full-length album, companion book and audiobook, all entitled Jesus Over Everything.
