Liam Neeson Gets Framed for Murder in Taken 3
Acclaimed actor and reluctant action star Liam Neeson is back to reprise his role as former CIA operative Brian Mills in "Taken 3," the final installment of the popular action thriller film franchise.
Certified worldwide blockbusters, "Taken 2" earned $376.1 million at the global box office in 2012, while "Taken" raked in a hefty $226.8 million in 2008.
Despite the earlier announcement that "Taken 2" will be his last, Neeson has said in interviews that he agreed to take on the role for $20 million, and on the condition that no one will be taken again.
Ever since "Taken 3" has been confirmed, fans have been wondering how the team will inject a fresh twist to the series. "Taken" saw Mills saving his daughter from human trafficking while in "Taken 2," Mills and his wife were held hostage overseas. Writers Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen worked on a plot that deviated from the usual formula; this time, Mills will be framed for murder. Pursued by the law, Mills's spunky daughter Kim will help him escape.
Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen are also back as Neeson's daughter and wife. Academy award-winner Forest Whitaker is the newest addition to the cast. It remains to be seen whether Whitaker would play the movie's villain or Mills's ally.
Currently shot in Los Angeles and Georgia, the movie is directed by Olivier Megaton, the man behind "Taken 2." "Taken 3" will be released in theaters on January 2015.
