Nasim Pedrad Potentially Leaving 'Saturday Night Live' Cast
"Saturday Night Live" cast member Nasim Pedrad looks to be exiting the long-standing live comedy show on NBC. She has spent five seasons on "SNL" starting in 2009 and was a fan favorite to many.
She was on a ATX Television Festival panel over the weekend and commented that she didn't think she'd be returning to "SNL" in the fall.
The news is not too surprising to many as Pedrad stars a lead role on the new highly anticipated upcoming Fox comedy "Mulaney". "SNL" wrapped up their 39th season a few weeks back and Nasim seemed more absent from sketches than usual.
"I haven't heard any official word so far, but I love this show so much," the actress said of Mulaney, according to Buzzfeed. "I have an apartment in L.A. and, as far as I know, I'm in L.A. now."
So with Pedrad on the way out, the casting carousel continues for next season on "Saturday Night Live." Along with Kristen Wiig's exit, the NBC show might have it's least star-powered cast since the show began. Hopefully they will find some new break out stars to fill the void.
Nasim Pedrad, 32, was born in Iran and raised in Irvine, California. She graduated from the UCLA School of Theatre in 2003. Pedrad has guest-starred on "Gilmore Girls" and from 2007 to 2009 had a recurring role on "ER" as Nurse Suri. In 2011, she was a recurring voice on the Fox animated series "Allen Gregory". She appeared with a small role in the 2011 film No Strings Attached. In 2012, she had a supporting voice role in The Lorax and a small appearance in The Dictator. In 2013, she had another supporting voice role in Despicable Me 2.
