"The Miracle Season" Trailer: Helen Hunt Movie Premieres April 2018, Tells True Inspiring Story of Hope and Teamwork
Upcoming film “The Miracle Season,” highlighting the Trojans’ unexpected triumph towards the state title following the tragic death of Iowa City West volleyball player Caroline Found, is set to hit cinemas on April 13.
Helmed by Sean McNamara, the inspiring drama stars Helen Hunt, William Hurt, Danika Yarosh, and Erin Moriarty, and is produced by LD Entertainment that also released the faith film “RISEN.”
As noted in the official synopsis, senior Trojans setter Caroline Found met a tragic car accident in August 2011 after attending a church event, shocking the City West volleyball team. Given the unfortunate circumstances, Found’s coach and teammates worked harder together with Coach Kathy Bresnahan helping the team cope with the death of their friend while prepping them up towards victory in their second consecutive state championship.
According to Coach Bresnahan, Found was the “pulse” of the volleyball team, and her death was certainly a devastating loss. Found’s story was featured in the national news and brought on slogans such as “Live Like Line.” The team’s story was also brought forward on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.”
"There's not a person that Caroline met that wasn't her friend," Coach Bresnahan said in 2011. "Getting back on the court is going to be hard for the kids. The girls' strength is with each other. "It's a tragedy whenever any young person dies, but this is really hard."
Team members, such as Ally Disterhoft, also opened up about Found being an inspiration as a fellow player and as a friend.
"Simply, Caroline has inspired me to be a better person. She taught me to love a little harder, laugh a little more, and not to fret the small stuff," Disterhoft said to The Iowa Gazette. "I think that her story has inspired hundreds of other people as well, and that is truly amazing.”
Written by Elissa Matsueda and David Aaron Cohen, who also worked on 2004’s sports drama series “Friday Night Lights,” “The Miracle Season” is set to hit cinemas on April 13, 2018.
