Carrie Underwood Wants to Raise Her Son Up in Church
Country music veteran Carrie Underwood has never been shy about her Christian faith. Many of her songs such as "Jesus Take the Wheel," "How Great Thou Art," and "Something in the Water" express her faith explicitly. Recently, Underwood even scored a #1 on the Christian chart with "Something in the Water." Now, with the birth of her son Isaiah Michael, Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, wants to raise their seven-month-old son up in the church.
In a recent interview with People Magazine, the "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer revealed that every night, she and her husband read children's Bible stories to their infant son, Isaiah Michael. "[We want Isaiah to] have a loving heart toward people who are different," Underwood adds
"Mike and I talk about teaching him how to approach everybody in a loving way, even if they're not the same, and to try to say, 'You know what? God loves them, so it should be my job to do my best to love them as well.' "
"We want to go to church, not just for lessons and learning, but also to have a community and be surrounded by people who are just trying to raise their kids up good. Keeping everything as loving as possible, you know?"
Underwood frequently uses her Instagram and Twitter accounts to update fans on how life has changed since the birth of her son. Right after Isaiah was born, the country star shared a sweet photo of her son's hands, captioning the image, "Tiny hands and tiny feet...God has blessed us with an amazing gift! Isaiah Michael Fisher - born on February 27. Welcome to the world, sweet angel!"
Underwood and Fisher, who have been married since July 2010, revealed they were expecting a child back in September. "Having Isaiah...really opened up these doors, you realize you have more purpose than you thought you had," the singer explained to People of how her mentality has changed since having a child.
