John Waller Applies "Crazy Faith" to His Music & Life
Recording artist and songwriter John Waller has just released his brand new single "Crazy Faith." "Crazy Faith" is also the first single and video from his fourth full-length album, Crazy Faith. Already garnering acclaim from radio programmers, fellow artists and more, plus receiving more than 20,000 views of the single's music video, the album's title track is further featured in the theatrical release, War Room. The highly-anticipated fifth film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the award-winning creators of Fireproof, Courageous and Facing the Giants, War Room will debut in theaters nation-wide through Sony Pictures Entertainment's TriStar Pictures August 28.
Hallels: Congratulations on the release of your new album "Crazy Faith." I have read in your bio that every album is a result of lessons you have learned in your walk with the Lord. What are some of the lessons you have learned as you penned this new album?
Well I've certainly learned to trust God on a whole different level. Before I made this album we went from 5 to 9 children in one year. We started the process to adopt one little girl only to discover she had a brother and a sister. We adopted all three of them and right before completing the adoption we found out my wife Josee was expecting a baby!
Hallels: The single "Crazy Faith" is also from the movie "War Room." Did you write specifically for the movie? Or was the song chosen for the movie after you have written it?
"Crazy Faith" was inspired by our adoption journey which took our faith to a "crazy" level.
Hallels: This is not the first time your song was used for a movie, especially a faith-based movie. Are you planning to write more songs for Christian movie soundtracks?
I just plan to write what the Lord puts on my heart and then if it works for a movie...praise Him!
Hallels: Have you seen "War Room" yet? What do you think of the movie? What do you like about it?
Yes and it is BY FAR the Kendrick brothers finest achievement! The acting was phenomenal and the message was so well delivered through Alex Kendrick's directing of the film. I cried at least 7 times and laughed way more. It is one awesome film!
Hallels: Let's talk about the songs on your new disc. What's the song "The Orphan Song" about? What was the inspiration behind it?
Orphan was inspired by my youngest adopted daughter Anna. She prayed for parents for years and we were the answer to those prayers. She is a reminder that Jesus hears the heart cry of the Orphan and He sets the lonely in families.
Hallels: My absolute favorite song off the album is "Forgive Me." It's so sincere, powerful, and heartfelt. Tell us more about why you wrote this song?
I actually did not write this song, but an artist from the 90's named Tim Miner both wrote and recorded the original version. It was one of my favorite songs of the past and I always wanted to cover it. So here it is! My version!
Hallels: Many of the songs are worship in focus. Have you thought of doing a live worship album?
I actually did record a live worship album called "worship while I'm waiting" available on iTunes.
Hallels: Speaking of "Crazy Faith," can you tell us a time in your life where you did step out with "crazy faith"?
More times than I can count. Our adoption was our biggest and craziest so far. My wife and I recently felt led to start a coffee company where we provide a subscription based service to people. Inside each bag of coffee there is a story of Crazy Faith in the bag. Almost like a Cracker Jack surprise. It was a huge leap to do this as we've never started a business before, but we are passionate about coffee and telling stories that give hope! Check it out at CrazyFaithCoffee.com
