Little Big Town Prepares to Sing of Christ's Birth By Releasing a Christmas Album
Little Big Town is one of the few country groups headed by a female voice that can still do wonders on the country charts. Thus, far, they have charted with #1 hits such as "Pontoon" and "Girl Crush." Now, they are back in the studios recording a brand new Christmas album to be released later in the year.
To find inspiration, the group is watching old Christmas movies. "One of our favorite Christmas tradition is gathering around the television to watch holiday movies," Karen Fairchild says. "And I know for Kimberly, it starts with It's a Wonderful Life. Ours is holiday movies and records - like, certain records have to be played in [a certain] order for Jimi."
So, will the Christmas albums contain the old favorite carols or new festive tunes? "I think you have to really address the classics," band member Phillip Sweet tells ABC News Radio. "I think that's what people want to hear. Of course, we want to do some originals."
"We always want to do something a little different," Sweet adds, "but always still fresh but at the same time familiar and beautiful."
