'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' Action-Packed Film Rocks the Big Screen
The American crime thriller film "Sin City" was released in theaters and cinemas last Aug. 22. As of Oct. 26, the movie grossed an estimated total of $38 million worldwide, which combines the estimated domestic gross of $13 million and estimated gross of $24 million in other countries.
"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" is a 2014 American neo-noir thriller film follow-up to the 2005 film of the same name. It follows the city's most hard-boiled citizens as they cross path with its more reviled inhabitants. One of the minor plots of the movie is based on the short story "Just Another Saturday night", which is in "Booze, Broads, and Bullets".
Mickey Rourke as Marv, Jessica Alba as Nancy, Josh brolin as Dwight, Josephn Gordon-Levitt as Johnny, Rosario Dawson as Gail, Bruce Willis as Hartigan, Eva Green as Ava, Powers Boothe as Senator Roark, Dennis Haysbert as Manute, Ray Liotta as Joey, Chrostopher Meloni as Mort, Jeremy Piven as Bob, Christopher Lloyd as Kroenig, Jaime King as Goldie/Wendy, and Juno Temple as Sally.
The film is written and piloted by Frank Miller, with Robert Rodrigez as co-director and producers. The film is also produced by Aaron Kaufman, Stephen L'Heureux, Sergeu Bespalov, Alexander Rodnyansky, and Mark Manuel.
Film director Frank Miller spoke his thoughts about what the viewers can expect from his masterpiece in a statement in The Verge. "People accepted the first "Sin City", so we moved to take things further and make it closer to the books. The biggest variation from the first one is the use of 3D, which at first I resisted, but Robert showed that the sparing way I draw - the fact that I remove so many elements from my pictures to hone in on what I want you to read - lent itself to 3D very well. So, overall I would say, as proud as I am of the first movie, this is a whole new experience. I think you'll be quite thrilled," he said.
Filming was set in the summer of 2012 while the principal photography took place last Oct. 2012.
"Sin City" is produced under Troublemaker Studios, Aldamisa Entertainment, Miramax Films, Demarest Films, and Solipsist Films. It is distributed under Dimension Films.
The story presents women as "cunning creatures", as they are willing to trade their sexuality either for money or to gain advantage or protection, while men as more tangibly and sparingly powerful than women, as per Roger Ebert.
Meanwhile, last early 2014, the directors have also started combining concepts for Sin City third installment, according to Screenrant.
