'Laggies': When in the Middle of a Quarter-Life Crisis, will you Run Away?
After all the great films that you might have seen about the masculine features, it is very refreshing to see a unique story in the movie "Laggies" that primarily focuses on immature women. Along with the winsome performance of Keira Knightley who plays the role of Megan, a 28-year-old underemployed and directionless college graduate, "Laggies" is an impressive film that anyone must never miss to watch.
In the film, "Laggies" Keira Knightley stars as a woman who reacts to the marriage proposal of her boyfriend by escaping and pretending to go on business retreat but actually hangs out with an old friend who is just sixteen years old. The wonderful role of an aimless girl who does not fit with her friends in high school seems like she has been tailor made for Megan. The playful nature, slightly wicked smile and loose limbs of the actress perfectly match the flightiness of Megan.
The ten-year relationship of Megan with her high school sweetheart, Anthony takes a dramatic turn the moment he proposes. Lying to her boyfriend that she is going to a business retreat, Megan asks Annika if it is possible for her to bunk at the suburban home temporarily with the girl and her single dad, Craig. Megan lies to Craig and Annika, and said she just needs a place to stay while she is waiting to move into her new apartment.
Annika's father Craig is a divorced lawyer. He questions Megan's motives, but since the "Laggies" is a romantic comedy, he does not explore much and besides, he has been captured by Megan's charms.
Keira Knightley is wonderful in the slacker role she plays in "Laggies." Some of the best scenes in the film are between Megan and Annika. Watch the movie and see how this underemployed and irresponsible lady becomes the maternal surrogate for Annika.
Megan is very comfortable around Annika than her peers. Although her process of maturation is quite slugging or even delayed, it is however, full of reflection. Indeed, "Laggies" is a very compelling story about a woman who is confused by her adult identity.
