iPhone 6: Apple's Profit Record
According to The Inquirer, Apple has announced a higher profit this fourth quarter and this is because of the rising demands of iPhone 6.
Apple beats its own and experts' expectations with the latest Q4 results. The company was expected to post revenue of approximately $40B, yet trumped this with a revenue of $42.1B. It also gained a record profit of $8.5bn.
The New York Times reported that it's a huge climb from last year's Q4 results, which is $7.5B worth of profit and $37.5B worth of revenue. Such growth was because of the sales of both iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The larger smartphones drew a strong reaction. During the first weekend of the release of these new iPhones, Apple sold ten million of these devices, which is higher compared to the nine million new iPhones purchased last year on its opening weekend. Moreover, Apple has teamed up with some phone carriers in important markets, especially China.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, said that the earnings of the company call for the demand of the new larger phones, which have sales that are remarkably higher in each country where it offered the iPhone 5S in the previous year.
Apple has also more good news to deliver in terms of Mac sales. Being the top five PC companies in the world, Apple has announced that there is also a growth in Mac sales, which allow them to recharge and get back to the spotlight in today's market even if there are different smartphones that are being released from time to time.
However, Apple Insider reported that the sales of Apple's iPad is not like the same with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sales. Though it is not what the company expected, Apple is still glad with the results when they released two larger smartphones. Also, Cook said that more often than not, buyers do not upgrade their tablet frequently in comparison to smartphones. He also added that he views it as a speed bump, not actually a huge problem. This just means that the company wants to grow bigger than gain negative numbers on such things.
